British Columbia offers several 24/7 crisis lines providing immediate support for mental health, substance use, and thoughts of suicide

Immediate Emergency Support

  • Emergency Services: Call 9-1-1 if you or someone else is in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency. 

Primary Crisis Lines

  • Suicide Crisis Helpline: Call or text 9-8-8 for immediate support if you are having thoughts of suicide or are concerned about someone else.

  • BC Suicide Prevention & Intervention Line: Call 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433) for confidential 24/7 support across BC.

  • BC Mental Health Support Line: Call 310-6789 (no area code needed) for emotional support, information, and resources. 

Specialized & Indigenous Support

  • KUU-US Crisis Line: Call 1-800-588-8717 for culturally safe support for First Nations and Indigenous people.

  • Hope for Wellness Helpline: Call 1-855-242-3310 or use the online chat for all Indigenous people across Canada.

  • Métis Crisis Line: Call 1-833-638-4722 for support from Métis Nation BC.

  • Indian Residential School Crisis Line: Call 1-866-925-4419 for support related to residential school experiences. 

Regional & Demographic Support

  • Kids Help Phone: Call 1-800-668-6868 or text CONNECT to 686868 (for youth 20 and under).

  • Vancouver Island Crisis Line: Call 1-888-494-3888 or text 250-800-3806 (text available 6 PM – 10 PM PT).

  • Interior Crisis Line Network: Call 1-888-353-2273.

  • Northern BC Crisis Line: Call 1-888-562-1214.

  • Alcohol & Drug Information & Referral Service: Call 1-800-663-1441 or 604-660-9382 in the Lower Mainland.

  • Seniors’ Distress Line: Call 604-872-1234 for 24/7 support for older adults.
