Information shared in our sessions will not be disclosed to others without your explicit, informed consent, except under specific circumstances outlined below.

 

There are important exceptions to confidentiality, which are intended to ensure your safety and the safety of others. These exceptions include:

•If there is reason to believe you are at imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, confidentiality may be broken to protect your safety or the safety of others.

​

•If there is reason to believe a minor requires protection from abuse (including physical, sexual, emotional, or neglect), psychologists are mandated to report this information to the appropriate authorities. This also applies to situations involving domestic violence in homes where a minor lives or visits.

​

•If there is reason to believe a vulnerable adult is experiencing abuse or neglect, the psychologist may be required to notify the appropriate authorities to ensure that individual’s safety.

​

•If concerns arise regarding your ability to safely operate a vehicle or heavy machinery due to health reasons, the psychologist may be required to report this to the appropriate authorities to protect you and others.

​

•If your employment involves specific safety requirements and there is a risk to your safety or the safety of others in the workplace, I may have a legal or ethical obligation to inform your employer.

•If a court order requires the disclosure of records, psychologists may be legally obligated to provide your records as requested by the court.

​

•If an outstanding balance remains unpaid after a reasonable period, a third-party agency may be used to collect the amount owed. Only the minimum necessary identifying information will be shared, and no clinical information will be disclosed. This process is handled with sensitivity and respect for your privacy.

•Please note that any form of recording—audio or video—is not permitted during psychological sessions. This policy helps protect your privacy and fosters a safe, confidential environment for all participants.
